Planned Giving

Did you know that there are some amazing advantages to giving through your retirement fund or through estate planning? When you choose to give through these options there are often tax incentives that make it worthwhile for you as the donor. Your contributions from your retirement plan, or from including Clean Water for Haiti in your estate planning will mean that we can continue to reach out goal of providing Haitian families with access to safe drinking water in their homes.

Giving From Your Retirement Fund

In both the US and Canada there can be tax advantages to making a donation from your retirement plan. Wherever you live, these are conversations that you can have with your financial planner and tax professionals to see what is most advantageous to you as a donor.

US Donors

If you live in the US and have an IRA, you have the option of making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). If you are over the age of 70 ½ you can make donations to qualified charitable organizations like Clean Water for Haiti and not have this included in your annual taxable income amounts. For those over 72 this can also help you meet your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).

For more information on QCDs and RMDs please visit IRS.gov.
