Who We Are
Most water sources in Haiti are contaminated, and without a reliable means to treat that water families are regularly battling water borne illnesses. Clean Water for Haiti was started in 2001 to help Haitian families get affordable access to clean water in their homes. We do this through our subsidized Bio-sand water filter program.
Clean Water for Haiti is a registered foundation in Haiti, and is supported by Clean Water for Haiti US and the CWH Foundation of Canada.
Our Development Strategy
We believe in development, and we believe that the greatest impact in Haiti will be made when we work with that in mind. Everything we do aims to empower Haitians to care for their own families.
We’ve chosen a filtration method that works with Haiti’s challenges, culture, and available resources. We’ve chosen a subsidized model rather than a free giveaway program because we have learned that things with value are used and taken care of. We’ve chosen to produce our filters in country because it means full time employment and skill training for the local community.
